From Youtube - The video demonstrates the unique nature of the heart as a non-sucking pump, whose output is controlled by systemic factors, as opposed to pumps (such as standard roller pumps) that suck to fill, whose output is controlled by pump factors. It also shows the determinative effects of Mean Vascular Pressure, Inlet Impedance, and the critical role of the atrium on cardiac output. The resulting understanding is far more illuminating of the actual determinants of cardiac output than the emphasis on concepts like "stroke rate times stroke volume," preload, afterload, and contractility that dominates many basic physiology courses. Robert M. Anderson, MD (1920-2010) was Associate Professor of Surgery and Associate Dean of the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona, and a Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Surgeons.

Abstract
One way to power a helicopter rotor is to blow air through the rotor tip. Such helicopters are known as tip-jets and have the potential to be lighter and simpler than conventional helicopters. Tip-jets were widely studied in the 1950s but have not seen production due to low efficiency and very high noise levels. However, based on historical data, a compound configuration which uses tip-jet power only during vertical take-off and landing, and then transitions to an autogiro mode using a propeller for forward thrust has the potential to provide fast, efficient, and reliable flight characteristics, while minimizing noise levels to those encountered in conventional rotorcraft.

Abstract
Refurbishment, also referred to as renovation is the process of renewing or restoring a building to a new or former condition and consists of major or minor repair and maintenance works. The purpose of this paper is to put forward a proposal document for total refurbishment scheme of Salvation Army citadel building in Sheffield, UK to modern day standard. The report is divided into eight sections to analyse, review and recommend an appropriate procurement strategy and contract form for the historic building. It discusses the various procurement strategy methods and legal forms of contract and recommends the one which is most appropriate for the proposed project. The estimated costs for refurbishment, value engineering methods, suitable form of tender documents and top ten risks that can affect the success of the project are also reviewed.

Abstract
Various researches have tried to determine the factors that are responsible for a successful project. The purpose of this paper is to explore the critical factors affecting project performance and develop a framework for measuring success of construction projects. In this paper, a set of key performance indicators (KPIs), namely planning and control, procurement, time, cost, quality and environmental performance are identified as crucial to project performance amongst many others. The importance and the limitations of the suggested KPIs are discussed. The validity of the proposed KPIs is also tested by three case studies. Recommended solutions targeting each area of concern from lessons learnt in the case studies provide a basis for improved project management for large scale projects. With the development of KPIs, a benchmark for measuring the performance of a construction project can be set.

This paper will focus on STEM education at the undergraduate level, pipeline issues related to retention in such programs and subsequent post-baccalaureate retention issues in graduate school and employment, and finally take a look at the challenges of balancing the technical content of a STEM degree with general education requirements and the espousal of civic duties. The central piece of legislation around which the examination of STEM trends will take place is the 2002 Undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Improvement ACT, also referred to as the Undergraduate STEM Improvement Act, or for the purposes of brevity USTEMIA. The goal of this paper is to review this specific piece of legislation and draw a relationship between it and other literature on STEM education in order to isolate and analyze language in the policy that promotes the economization of education while potentially overlooking the need to also preserve and promote the civic components of STEM education.
